Last modified: November 19, 2009 - 10:46 PM

Stage 2 Water Restrictions now apply in the Murray Shire, within the townships of Moama, Mathoura, Bunnaloo and Womboota - effective Wednesday 7 October 2009 (until further notice).

What Can and Can't I do During Stage 2 Water Restrictions?

Under Stage 2 Water Restrictions, gardens can be watered on specified watering days only in accordance with the following:

Lawns & Gardens

  • Can be watered from 7am to 9am and 7pm to 9pm on your allocated days.
  • Can be watered by:
S  Hand held hose with a trigger nozzle
S  A manual dripper system and/or moveable sprinklers operating through a tap timer
S  Automatic sprinklers can operate between midnight and 4am on the allocated days
  • During non-daylight saving times, watering times will be from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm.

Allocated Days

Your allocated days are as follows:

  • Even numbered houses can be watered on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Odd numbered houses can be watered on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • If your property does not have a number it is considered to be an even-numbered property

Vehicle Washing

Hand-held hoses fitted with a trigger nozzle or high pressure cleaning devices can be used for vehicle washing on a soft surface area at any time on your appointed day. A commercial car wash can be used.

Pools and Spas

A new pool or spa can be filled from a Murray Shire Council water supply. Pools should be fitted with a cover to prevent water loss through evaporation. An existing pool or spa can only be topped by an automated system or by means of a hand held hose, fitted with a trigger nozzle.

Penalties and Enforcement

Stage 2 Water Restrictions must be followed. If you are issued with a warning notice and still breach the restrictions, you may have your water supply restricted or face prosecution.
