Road Reclaimer
Council first purchased a Caterpillar Road Reclaimer in 1995 to assist with a variety of road construction techniques within Murray Shire. The item of plant has since become an invaluable part of Council's construction fleet.
The Road Reclaimer is available for hire to contractors or other councils and Council would be pleased to offer tender/quotation for roadwork requiring the use of not only the Reclaimer, but also other roadmarking equipment Council owns.
The Road Reclaimer has a rotor fitted with tungsten bullet heads which can recycle both bitumen sealed pavement and hotmix asphalt. The rotor cuts 2.4m wide and to a depth of 375mm, however, most work is in the 150mm to 200mm range. A water spray bar with metering control is fitted above the rotor which enables water to be incorporated in the one mixing operation, using a 75mm camlock connection to a water tanker forward of the Reclaimer.
Council staff have used the Reclaimer for:
-
Mixing quicklime into wet clay sub-base.
-
Mixing cement and blends of cement, slag and lime into existing base material.
-
Mixing local prior stream gravel and loam overburden for road base course.
-
Cutting to various depths for the removal of substandard base course material. The loosened material then removed by loader and trucks.
Council can organise the supply of quicklime, GP cement and slag/lime blends. In addition, a local contractor is available for the controlled application of bulk chemical.
It is Council's desire to provide full support for any project, not only during the construction phase but also in the planning and monitoring process. Council's Works Manager is available to assist with the selection of the appropriate stabilisation additives and mixing techniques. In addition, Council has a well equipped soils laboratory and RTA Certified Soils Technician who can provide grading, moisture and density testing.
Council can provide a competitive and professional service to assist you to produce a quality road at a more affordable price.
